The college has been named after former President of India Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed. Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS), Guwahati, Assam, India is established in 2009 as per The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences Act, 2007.
