Luffy is found on an island beach, where he saves a little girl, Medaka, from two pirates. All the villagers, including Medaka's father, have been abducted by Ganzack and his crew and forced into labour. After hearing that Ganzack also stole all the food, Luffy and Zoro rush out to retrieve it. As they fight the pirates, one of them kidnaps Medaka.

Luffy and Usopp becomes lost and meet Saga, while Saga's men attack Maya's village. Zoro, alongside them, takes three purple orbs from Maya, which none of Saga's men can touch. Luffy fights Saga, but during the encounter falls off a high cliff, causing Usopp to jump after him. Zoro returns to Saga with the orbs and disposes of them in a well.
On their way to "The Palace of the Sea God" Robin's group meets an entranced Zoro. It looks like Zoro wants to fight so Luffy urges the others to keep going without him. They apprehend the kid but the whistle was what was really stealing their memories. Zoro returns, still entranced, but Luffy's nowhere to be seen.
Lilith, a satellite of Vegapunk, attacks the Thousand Sunny, but is stopped by Shaka, another satellite of Vegapunk, who identifies Zoro and Robin. He orders Lilith to bring the Straw Hats to him. Meanwhile, Luffy, Bonney, Jinbe, and Chopper explore Egghead. Bonney threatens to get revenge on Vegapunk for turning her father, into a cyborg.
Luffy, Zoro, Usopp, and Robin stand near the dead dragon that Zoro killed, with Luffy trying to pull out the man who is stuck in the dragon's back. Luffy succeeds by pulling out only the legs, making everyone think that he killed the man. However, the legs are alive, and they run away trying to look for a Warlord.
The Straw Hat Pirates begin their attack with Luffy, Zoro and Sanji taking the lead in the fight but mostly it is the latter two of the three who begin showing their new powers and abilities from their two-year separation and training. Zoro starts showing off his newly modified sword attacks while Sanji displays a more powerful style of kicking.
