Rice Army Air Field (also known as Rice Air Base [1] or Rice AAF) is an abandoned World War II airfield in Rice Valley of the southern Mojave Desert, located 1-mile (1.6 km) east-southeast of the community of Rice. The airfield is located in Riverside County just south of the San Bernardino county line and State Route 62.

In the mid-1960s, there was an attempt to get private financing to resurface the runway. At the time, the paved runway (10/28) was 2600' by 46', but there was a N/E-S/W turf runway on the west side which started at old Irving Park road and ended before the C&NW Railroad tracks aligned with the taxiway. The turf runway was 1200' to 1400' long.

Desert Center was one of the areas included in the California Arizona Maneuver Area, used during 1942–44 to train General Patton's armored forces for desert combat prior to it deploying to North Africa.
