Abdul Rahman Pazhwak (Persian: عبدالرحمن پژواک; 7 March 1919 – 8 June 1995) was an Afghan poet and diplomat. He was educated in Afghanistan and started his career as a journalist, later joining the foreign ministry.

There were no nominations before the election. The election was managed by then-President of the United Nations General Assembly Abdul Rahman Pazhwak of Afghanistan and one of the Vice-Presidents, a Mr. Solomon of Trinidad and Tobago. Voting was conducted on a single ballot.
