WEZL (103.5 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Charleston, South Carolina, and serving the Lowcountry.It broadcasts a country music radio format and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. WEZL carries two nationally syndicated programs: The Bobby Bones Show on weekday mornings and After Midnite with Granger Smith, heard overnights.
The station went on the air as WMTY-FM on March 9, 1989. On January 20, 1991, the station changed its call sign to the current WZSN. While the show has almost always been local, it was briefly syndicated to Baltimore (Ski's adopted hometown) on sister station WXYV, as well as in Charleston, South Carolina. Ski was a former host on WXYV (then known as V103) before relocating to Atlanta in 1998, after a two-year stint at rival Baltimore urban station WERQ .
The station called itself "Charleston's New #1 for Hip-Hop" and featured the Rickey Smiley Morning Show from 6:00am to 10:00am. On May 31, 2011, WIHB changed their format to country, simulcasting WIOP 95.9 FM, which began its own format two weeks later. WIHB became WCKN "Kickin' 92.5", with Charlie James of WWNU as the morning host. [6] [7]
On August 17, 2020, WTMZ ended its simulcast of 98.9 WTMZ-FM "ESPN Charleston" and began airing sports programming previously heard on WQSC. [3] WQSC switched to a classic hits format. While 98.9 WTMZ-FM carries mostly ESPN Radio programs, WTMZ 910 and 94.7 air mostly Fox Sports Radio shows.
