Theatre portal; Canada portal; The PuSh International Performing Arts Festival is produced over three weeks each winter on the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ first nations, primarily in the territory that was the seasonal and ancestral village of K’emk’emeláy, colloquially known as Vancouver, British Columbia.
Unlike the 2020 Vancouver International Film Festival, which was staged entirely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 festival featured in-person screenings at the VIFF Centre and other venues, although most titles were also available on the online VIFF Connects platform.
The following is an incomplete list of festivals in the province of British Columbia, Canada. Both single events and recurring festivals are included. This list includes festivals of diverse types, including regional festivals, commerce festivals, fairs, food festivals, arts festivals, religious festivals, folk festivals, and recurring festivals on holidays.
The Festival takes place every BC Day long weekend, which usually lands around the beginning of August. Powell Street Festival features both local, national, and international talent. The festival was first launched in 1958; [4] however, facing financial and organizational difficulties in the late 1960s, [5] it was discontinued after the 1969 festival. The Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society was incorporated in the early 1980s and relaunched the festival in its current form in 1982, under the leadership of Leonard Schein.
