Carlos Valentín José de la Soledad Antonio del Sacramento de Soublette y Jerez de Aristeguieta (15 December 1789 – 11 February 1870) was a Venezuelan politician and military officer who was the 7th and 9th president of Venezuela from 1837 to 1839 and again from 1843 to 1847 and a hero of the Venezuelan War of Independence.

Incumbent Conservative President Soublette increased the number of army recruits, a decision which was denounced by his opponents as a way to intimidate voters. The elections were finally held in relative order; however, the chaos caused by the previous insurrections meant the results - showing Monagas's victory - were not accepted.

Carlos Soublette proved an honest but lackluster president, in some ways a foil to Páez, and he could not prevent the "election" of Monagas to the presidency in 1847. It is the accepted wisdom that all the "elections" in the Venezuelan 19th century were a sham or non-existent, but this is not exactly accurate.
Former vice presidents Andrés Navarte, Carlos Soublette, Diosdado Cabello (in April 2002) and Nicolás Maduro (in 2012–2013) were all once acting presidents of Venezuela. Soublette and Maduro were also later elected as president.
