Marion's Piazza is a pizzeria chain based in Dayton, Ohio. Established in 1965 by Marion Glass, the company operates nine restaurants throughout the greater Dayton area. Marion's son, Roger Glass, took over as CEO after Marion's death in 2006 and continued to manage the company until his passing in August of 2022. [1]
The Pine Club was founded in 1947. Jim Sullivan owned the restaurant from 1947–1954, Lloyd Meinzer from 1954–1979, and Dave Hulme from 1979–2018; [2] it was sold in 2018 in a private sale with the new owner undisclosed.
The company was established as the Rike-Kumler company in downtown Dayton, Ohio in 1853. They would remain independent until 1959 when they joined the Federated Department Stores company, at which time the company owned the then 650,000 sq ft downtown store, a 280,000 sq ft service building, two warehouses, and the Miami Hotel. The building served as Dayton's first school, first church, courthouse, council chamber and store. [2] Church services were held in the building for three years until 1799, when a blockhouse was built, after which services were held in the blockhouse. [4] It was best known as a crossroads tavern in the Northwest Territory for pioneers and drovers.
