The church spire towers 197 feet (60 m) above street level making it a prominent landmark and the tallest building in the historic German Village neighborhood south of downtown Columbus. The cathedral c. 1900-10. St. Joseph Parish, named after Saint Joseph, was founded by members of St. Patrick's Parish in Columbus in 1866 to alleviate overcrowding. Its pastor, the Rev. Edward M.
