The Saltwater Sportfishing Show began in 2003 when a group of anglers called the Salty Dogs met in the Rogue Pub in Newport Oregon to talk about ways they might help the fishing industry.Our first “trade shows” were held at the Elks Lodge in Newport. We have a core group of Oregon anglers that range from very experienced to novices in the SD game. The trip is going to be an 8-day on the Independence from June 16-24 in 2025. A rough estimate of the plans will be to head down to Alijos Rocks or the Ridge in MX to start and get our fill of yellowtail, YF tuna, grouper and possibly wahoo.

We Kokanee fish but also want better detailed bottom imaging for shallow and deep bottom fishing. We went on a bottomfish charter out of Garibaldi with Pacific Offshore.
Last two days, small craft warnings, nasty seas. Two boats have flipped out of Bodega Bay. 2 fatalities, 5 missing. One 11 year old, was rescued from the beach. Fish_N_Russ....Last winter I bought a Cabela's Fish Eagle II GSTII 904s-2 9' CX2 Graphite rod primarily for jig fishing for summer steelhead. I feel it is a good rod, however my son Sparkleboy thinks I should have picked up a longer rod. He uses 10'6" and knocked summers dead all season.
Maple syrup and cayenne pepper mixed to the level of spicy you want. Spread it on your salmon. My preferred cooking method is a cedar plank , soaked in water at least a few hours, on the bbq medium high heat. Pre heat bbq, stick the plank on with salmon on it skin side down. Steams the fish a bit as it cooks.
