The Pleasant Ridge Church in Phillipsburg, Kansas, known also as Sod Church is a church which was built in 1898. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. [1] It is a 20 by 32 feet (6.1 m × 9.8 m) building, built in a national folk architectural style.
Phillips County is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas. Its county seat and largest city is Phillipsburg. [2] As of the 2020 census, the county population was 4,981. [1] The county was named after William Phillips, a free-state abolition journalist and colonel in the American Civil War.
Kansas native Clare Harner (1909–1977) first published "Immortality" in the December 1934 issue of poetry magazine The Gypsy [1] and was reprinted in their February 1935 issue. It was written shortly after the sudden death of her brother. Harner's poem quickly gained traction as a eulogy and was read at funerals in Kansas and Missouri.
