Bull Sluice Lake is a small reservoir located along the Chattahoochee River in northern Georgia, in the northern suburbs of metro Atlanta. It is 673 acres (272 ha), and is impounded by the Morgan Falls Dam. Besides the hydroelectric power produced by the dam, the lake's primary use is recreation, including fishing and rowing.
Racepond had its start when the Waycross and Florida Railroad was extended to that point. [2] The community took its name from a nearby natural pond where horse races were conducted in the 1830s. [3] A post office called Racepond was established in 1881, and remained in operation until 1953. [4]
The river rises at a point in north central Georgia southeast of Atlanta, at the confluence of the Yellow, South, and Alcovy rivers. [1] Since the construction of the Lloyd Shoals Dam in the early 20th century, these rivers join as arms of the Jackson Lake reservoir. [1]
