The population of India is about 1.3 billion, or 1/6 of the global population. I would argue that makes the Indian Rupee quite well-known, far moreso than the Swedish Kroner example used at WP:$. (Population of Sweden is 9.8 million). That said, I'm not proposing the removal of any functionality.
