IIT – Delhi – Main Entrance signage. The primary campus of IIT Delhi is located in Hauz Khas, South Delhi, with Sonipat and Jhajjar being the two satellite campuses. The campus of 325 acres (132 ha) is surrounded by the Hauz Khas area and monuments such as the Qutb Minar and Lotus Temple. [4]
It was founded as a State University [3] by an act of the Delhi Government (The IIIT Delhi Act, 2007) [4] in 2008, with seed support from the Government of NCT of Delhi. [5] The institute began with its first batch of 60 students on 8 September 2008 from NSUT (NSIT at that time). IIIT-Delhi moved to its current permanent campus in August 2012.
In Delhi there are 2 Institutes of Eminence, 7 central universities, [1] 10 state universities [2] and 11 deemed universities [citation needed].The status of one institute, the National School of Drama, is unclear.

The Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi, also known as DMS IIT Delhi, is a school of management education and research in Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. The department was established in 1993 by an amendment in IIT Delhi laws. It currently runs three MBA programs: A two-year full-time MBA programme with focus on Management Systems.

The neighborhood comprises two distinct sections: Ber Sarai Village and Ber Sarai Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Flats. The village shares a wall with the hostels of IIT Delhi and is, at present, a dense collection of houses mixed with shops. The Ber Sarai has a market, which is known for new and second-hand bookshops.
