The community in downtown Port Orchard has been a fit for years as well. Started in the 1990s, the WWCA was created by a volunteer group of people passionate about performing arts.
VHS runs 9th through 12th grade. The school has only one language course available which is Spanish I and Spanish II. VHS puts on three plays a year within the three drama classes; Theater Arts I, II and Musical Theater. VHS also has a band which puts on three concerts, including a Christmas concert and a Pops concert.

The Florida legislature in 1984 established the Performing Arts Center Authority (PACA) to oversee construction, then policy-making, at the Broward Center. The Downtown Development Authority, along with citizens, private sources, and the Broward Performing Arts Foundation worked together to raise the funding required to build the theater complex.
