The Dismal River is a winding 71.9-mile-long (115.7 km) [1] river in the state of Nebraska. Mullen is located in the Nebraska Sandhills. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.47 square miles (1.22 km 2), all land. [9] Mullen was named after Charles D. Mullen of Lincoln. At that time, Mullen was Chief Clerk for Mr. D.E. Thompson, Division Superintendent of the CB&Q Railroad.
The River Club golf course in Garden City could shrink from about 120 acres to 100 acres if a proposed development along State Street is built. The development wouldn’t affect the riverfront.
