The truck came with several minor appearance upgrades (rear spoiler, embroidered headrests, Intimidator custom badging), but was essentially a standard Silverado SS. Of the 1,033 scheduled trucks, only 933 were made (the remaining 100 were sold as 2007 Silverado SS "Classic" body style trucks before the 2007 MY changeover to the new GMT900.
Buick used it as a warehouse from 1947 until Fisher Body bought it in 1951. Converted in 1955 into an automotive body metal fabricating plant. Engine was rebuilt by original owner roughly 10,000 miles prior to sale. Restored car taken to Anglesey Circuit for track testing with a local Mazda Wankel club. Sold back to original seller.

The package included Super Sport trim for both the interior and exterior, chassis reinforcements, stronger springs and shocks, power brakes, spinner wheel covers, and narrow-band whitewall tires.

For 2002, Callaway produced a limited run of Commemorative C8s, based on the 1998–2002 Camaro. Although only two were produced to this specification, one 1996 Callaway C8 was upgraded to the Commemorative body kit by the company. Although this brings the total number of C8s with this kit to 3, Callaway only recognises the two originally built.
