The National Security Coordination Secretariat (NSCS) is a unit under the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) of the Government of Singapore.Established in 1999, it was tasked to strengthen coordination amongst Singapore's existing security agencies; Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Singapore Police Force (SPF), Internal Security Department (ISD) and Security and Intelligence Division (SID).

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA; Malay: Kementerian Ehwal Dalam Negeri; Chinese: 内政部; Tamil: உள்துறை அமைச்சு), sometimes referred to as the Home Team, is a ministry of the Government of Singapore responsible for overseeing the national security, public security, civil defence, border control and immigration of Singapore.
The department was initially established as the Criminal Intelligence Department in 1918 after the Sepoy Mutiny of 1915. In 1933, the CID was renamed as Special Branch. [1]In 1939, it was restructured into the Malayan Security Service (MSS) which was not yet fully operational by the time of the outbreak of the Second World War.
