Kaufman County is a county in the northeastern area of the U.S. state of Texas.As of the 2020 census, its population was 145,310. [1] Its county seat is Kaufman. [2] Both the county, established in 1848, and the city were named for David S. Kaufman, a U.S. Representative and diplomat from Texas.
Kaufman was founded as "Kings Fort", named after Dr. William P. King, who established the fort in 1840 after purchasing 2.5 square miles (6.5 km 2) of land where the city is now located. The community was renamed "Kingsboro" after five years of growth.

Cedar Park lies mostly in Williamson County, although a small amount extends into Travis County. Cedar Park is generally bisected north to south by U.S. Route 183.
