ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes are two-letter country codes defined in ISO 3166-1, part of the ISO 3166 standard [1] published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), to represent countries, dependent territories, and special areas of geographical interest.
Currently for Malaysia, ISO 3166-2 codes are defined for three federal territories and 13 states. Each code consists of two parts, separated by a hyphen. The first part is MY, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code of Malaysia. The second part is two digits: 01–13: states; 14–16: federal territories
