Frankenstein Unbound is a 1990 science fiction horror film based on Brian Aldiss's 1973 novel of the same name, starring John Hurt, Raul Julia, Bridget Fonda, Jason Patric, and Nick Brimble. The film is co-written and directed by Roger Corman , returning to the director's chair after a hiatus of almost fifteen years.

1973: Frankenstein Unbound, by Brian Aldiss, combining the titles of Mary Shelley's novel with Percy Bysshe Shelley's Prometheus Unbound (1820), sends a time traveler from the 21st century back to Geneva in 1816, when Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin (as she was known then) was engaged in writing the original Frankenstein story.
After hearing Frankenstein's story, Walton relents and agrees to head for home. Frankenstein begs the captain to finish off what he could not, as the creature cannot be left alive. He sees Elizabeth's ghost beckoning to him and dies shortly after. Walton soon after discovers the Creature on his ship, mourning over Victor's body.
