The Island Hopper is an airline route between Guam and Honolulu, Hawaii, via several small islands in the Federated States of Micronesia and the Marshall Islands. [1] The route, currently operated by United and originally by Continental Micronesia, is the only scheduled service for many of the islands visited en route.
Hawaiian Airlines uses both Boeing 717 and Airbus A321 aircraft for gates 3-4, and 5-6 for their inter-island and US mainland flights, according to the airline staff. American Airlines mostly uses Gate 3 and occasionally Gate 4, using the Airbus A321 to fly in and out of Lihue.
The Hawaiian Airlines website shows tickets start at $199 for one way to Lihue and $276 to Kona. Depending on the day of travel, tickets can exceed $400 for one way. Round-trip fares are doubled.
