KYAZ (channel 51) is a television station licensed to Katy, Texas, United States, serving as the Houston area outlet for the classic television network MeTV. Owned and operated by Weigel Broadcasting, the station maintains studios at One Arena Place on Bissonnet Street on Houston's southwest side, and its transmitter is located near Missouri City, Texas.
KMKT got its start on frequency 104.9 FM in the North Texas region after its sister station KLAK moved to Durant, Oklahoma 1987.. It was first branded as "Katy Klassics" (the initials are a reference to the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad, commonly called the "Katy" railroad), then "Katy Oldies" a year later.

On December 1, 1986, the station first signed on as KTBT. [4] It was owned by Duncan Broadcasting and aired a middle of the road (MOR) music format. At first, the power was 2,500 watts by day and 1,000 watts at night. Howard Sellers acquired the station in September 1989. He kept the format as MOR. [5] Sellers sold the station the following month.
