Samsung Notes (Korean: 삼성 노트) is a note-taking application developed by the South Korean company Samsung Electronics. It allows the writing of digital and handwritten notes with embedded photos and audio, as well as sketching and drawing, and reading and annotating PDF documents.
Samsung announced the original Galaxy Note at IFA Berlin in 2011. While some media outlets questioned the viability of the device due to its 5.3-inch screen (which, at the time, was considered extremely large for a phone), the Note received positive reception for its stylus functionality, the speed of its 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, and the advantages of such a large screen size.
With the Android 4.1 update (pre-installed on the Samsung Galaxy Note II), Samsung delivered a "premium suite upgrade", whose improvements include a split screen mode, making this the first mobile user interface to run more than one application simultaneously.
