Ranatra is a genus of slender predatory insects of the family Nepidae, known as water scorpions or water stick-insects. [1] There are more than 140 Ranatra species found in freshwater habitats around the world, both in warm and temperate regions, with the highest diversity in South America (almost 50 species) and Asia (about 30 species, reviewed in 1972 [2]).
The town formerly had a school named Pantego High School. The town was hit by a tornado in 1991, and another on October 11, 2002, the latter an F2 tornado that was spawned by Hurricane Kyle, and destroyed two houses and a farm. The most recent tornado, rated EF2, was on April 7, 2014.
Belostoma flumineum is a North American species of giant water bug (family Belostomatidae). They are a common predator in ponds and wetlands. They are relatively large, reaching 2–2.5 cm (0.79–0.98 in) in length. As with other species of the Belostomatidae family, the fathers take care of the offspring. [1]
