St. Peter's Baldachin (Italian: Baldacchino di San Pietro, L'Altare di Bernini) is a large Baroque sculpted bronze canopy, technically called a ciborium or baldachin, over the high altar of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, the city-state and papal enclave surrounded by Rome, Italy.
The Rape of Proserpina (Italian: Ratto di Proserpina), more accurately translated as The Abduction of Proserpina, [1] is a large Baroque marble group sculpture by Italian artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini, executed between 1621 and 1622, when Bernini's career was in its early stage.

Much of the early work on Apollo and Daphne was done in 1622–23, but Bernini's work on his sculpture of David (1623-24) interrupted its completion. Bernini finished Apollo and Daphne in 1625, [3] and it was moved to the Cardinal's Villa Borghese in September of that year. [4] Bernini did not execute the sculpture entirely by his own hand.
