Citadel Mall is a regional 1,138,527 square feet (105,773 m 2) shopping mall located in Charleston, South Carolina, United States. It opened on July 29, 1981 and is located at the intersection of Sam Rittenberg Boulevard (SC Hwy. 7) and I-526.
Construction on the Citadel Mall began in 1970, and it opened on March 1, 1972, anchored by a JCPenney and Denver Dry Goods store, and included a two screen movie theater. The original mall consisted of 2 levels and 594,800 square feet of leasable space. By 1980, The Rouse Company owned the mall.
