The Basin League was an independent collegiate minor league, that operated from 1953 to 1973, featuring teams primarily from South Dakota and one from Nebraska. The league name reflected the number of teams situated along the Missouri River Basin. The league roster structure evolved from having some professional players to totally being amateur.
The Houma Bayou Bucks was a team in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL). The Bayou Bucks were officially announced as a team on December 19, 2001. [ 1 ] The team's first GM was Travis Carrell [ 2 ] and their first head coach was Jack Phillips Jr. [ 3 ]
This was Houma's second attempt at an indoor football team following the National Indoor Football League's Houma Bayou Bucks. The Bucks also played their games at the Houma Civic Center from 2002 to 2004. [1] They began play in the SIFL's inaugural 2009 season and lost their first five games, all but one by double digits.
The early Lafayette teams preceded the 1975 and 1976 Lafayette Drillers, who played as members of the Texas League and the 1998 to 2000 Bayou Bullfrogs of the Texas-Louisiana League. Lafayette teams played as minor league affiliates of the St. Louis Browns from 1936 to 1941, Chicago Cubs from 1955 to 1957 and San Francisco Giants in 1975 and 1976.
The Bayou Classic is an annual college football classic rivalry game between the Grambling State University Tigers and the Southern University Jaguars, first held under that name in 1974 at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, although the series itself actually began in 1932. A trophy is awarded to the winning school.

The Bay State Conference (BSC) is an interscholastic high school athletic league located in Norfolk County and Middlesex County of Massachusetts. The Bay State Conference is named after the nickname of Massachusetts which is the Bay State. As of 2024-2025, the Bay State Conference consists of 10 member schools.
