2006 Explorer EB 4.6l. September 19, 2019. #1. I have a 06 eb v8. Just wondering considering all the vvt issues these modular engines have, such as phasers, tensioners, guides, solenoids etc. How reliable are these 3v engines realistically. The 6R60/80 transmissions that come with the V8 models are one of Ford's most reliable transmissions. They have been used in the F150, Mustangs and Explorers/Mountaineers for many years and have shown to be very reliable and tough. The 4.6L 3V V8 makes 82 more horsepower than the V6 and gets better gas mileage.
2009 Ford Explorer, EB. January 26, 2017. #13. As it relates to the 3rd row, I was surprised to see two seats. I assumed the 3rd row would have three seats; I've never seen a 3rd row with 2 seats. Although, it's the same seating capacity as my Lincoln Navigator, as the 2nd row has two bucket seats and a center console.
