Bengkulu (Indonesian pronunciation: [bəŋˈkulu]), historically known as Bencoolen, is a province of Indonesia.It is located on the southwest coast of Sumatra.It was formed on 18 November 1968 by separating out the area of the historic Bencoolen Residency from the province of South Sumatra under Law No. 9 of 1967 and was finalized by Government Regulation No. 20 of 1968.
Bengkulu City also has several other mainstay attractions, such as Chinatown, Tapak Paderi Beach, Jakat Beach, Dendam Tak Sudah Lake, and Pulau Baai Harbor. Central Bengkulu Regency (Kabupaten Bengkulu Tengah) is a regency of Bengkulu Province, Indonesia. It is located on the west coast of the island of Sumatra, and lies immediately to the north and the east of the adjacent city of Bengkulu. It was formed on 24 June 2008 by being split away from the neighbouring North Bengkulu Regency.
