The Calgary Highlanders is a Canadian Army Primary Reserve infantry regiment, headquartered at Mewata Armouries in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.The regiment is a part-time reserve unit, under the command of 41 Canadian Brigade Group, itself part of 3rd Canadian Division, one of four region-based Canadian Army divisions.

The commanding officer of The Calgary Highlanders had replaced the Light Horse in the mobilization scheme, but their commanding officer was deemed medically unfit for active service. Scott was given command of the Calgary Highlanders on 25 August 1939 and commanded the unit's 1st Battalion when it formally mobilized on 1 September. [4]
