A bronze is an alloy of copper and other metals, most often tin, but also aluminium and silicon. Aluminium bronzes are alloys of copper and aluminium. The content of aluminium ranges mostly between 5% and 11%.
The gear range is difference between the highest and lowest gear ratios and may be expressed as a percentage (e.g., 500%) or as a ratio (e.g., 5:1). Heel [ edit ]
Italy pioneered the use for coinage of an aluminium-bronze alloy called bronzital (literally "Italian bronze") in its 5- and 10-centesimi from 1939. Its alloy was finalized in 1967 to 92% copper, 6% aluminium, and 2% nickel, [ 5 ] and was since used in the 20, 200 and 500 Italian Lira coins until 2001.
The NSG370 does not use standard gear oil for lubrication. This transmission utilizes bronze synchronizer collars resulting in sensitivity to lubricant make-up. Only a fluid characterized by Chrysler specification MS-9224 should be used in order to avoid premature wear or failure of internal parts as well as voiding the factory warranty. [2]
Double and triple cone synchronizers feature hybrid and sintered bronze friction material; Multi-rail shift system accommodates direct mount or semi-remote shifter locations; High-precision guide plate; Advanced interlock system; Anti-friction roller ball detents; Hollow shafts and webbed gears; Three-piece end load design aluminum housing
The gearbox was designed so that, for efficiency, the fastest ratio would be a "direct-drive" or "straight-through" 1:1 ratio, avoiding frictional losses in the gears. Achieving an overdriven ratio for cruising thus required a gearbox ratio even higher than this, i.e. the gearbox output shaft rotating faster than the engine.
Rated up to 23.5 kg⋅m (230 N⋅m; 170 lbf⋅ft) while having a dry weight of 79.9 kg (176.1 lb). It is contracted by Chrysler Group LLC for use in 2013–2016 Dodge Dart and 2014-2016 Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot, the transmission is designed to be maintenance-free under normal use and is assembled in South Korea.
