In 1960, Nicholson consisted of grades 11, 12, and 13. In 1965, Nicholson was expanded to include grades 9 and 10, when the Belleville Separate School Board opened Nicholson Senior School adjacent to Nicholson Catholic College. [1] This new school addition also included a new and improved gymnasium, as well as 8 fully equipped classrooms.
The territory included the cities of Belleville, and Trenton, the towns of Bancroft and Deseronto, and Frankford, Marmora, Madoc, Stirling, and Tweed villages. [ 2 ] Its territory is now within the Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board .

The Student Senate of the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board is a board wide level of student government that is composed of representatives from each of the school board's five secondary schools: Regiopolis Notre Dame, Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School, St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School, Nicholson Catholic College, and St. Paul Catholic Secondary School.
