The trio is composed of rappers Ishmael "Butterfly" Butler, Mariana "Ladybug Mecca" Vieira, and Craig "Doodlebug" Irving. [2] The group is notable for their contributions to the subgenres of jazz rap and alternative hip hop.
The single "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)" became a hit in 1993, breaking into the Top 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart [15] and winning Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 1994. [16] In 1998, Reachin' was listed in The Source's 100 Best Rap Albums. [17]
