In India, an Institution of National Importance (INI) refers to a premier public higher education institution granted special status by an act of the Parliament of India. Such institutions are recognized for their pivotal role in developing highly skilled personnel within a specified region of the country or state.
The entrance examination i.e., INI-CET has been launched since year 2020 conducted twice a year for postgraduate courses in may and in November. Super Specialty Courses. Three year super-specialty courses are offered in Medical (DM) and Surgical (MCh) specialties.

Admissions to the post graduate courses is done through a common entrance exam known as Institute of National Importance-Common Entrance Test (INI-CET) along with PGI, Chandigarh, JIPMER Puduchery, NIMHANS Bangalore and SCTIMS, Trivandrum. AIIMS Jodhpur admits 194 PG students every year.
The entry is through a nationwide competitive examination, INI-CET, held every six months.
