Interests:Restoring vintage Singer sewing machines. Depends on what you consider as walking foot. Walking foot is not a "firm term" I would say. Though MOST leather workers and dealers consider triple feed (combined top feed, bottom feed and needle feed) as walking foot. However you sometimes even find a plain top feed machine (like Singer 29K ...
I think they where made for domestic sewing machine and not industrial machine like your 31K15, that is why your hubby had to modify it. If you was a walking style foot Singer 31, then there is a Singer 31K19 or 47 that has a walking or alternating pressers and they work as designed. Bert. Quote.
The Singer 111w100, 111w102, 111w114 and 111w151 are all bottom and needle feed only; not walking foot. You can see photos of the various 111 machines on Mark Rofini's website. Also, several members have ended up with non-walking foot 111w machines and started topics about them. Here is just one topic about a 111w102 needle feed machine.

You will be wasting your money. If you need a walking foot, buy a walking foot machine with compound feed.
It's basic capabilities are not much different from later versions. The Singer 111W101 Manual (111w101.pdf) tells most of the story. Downsides of these early models include the stitch length adjustment mechanism, which is a real pain to use and fix - there's a reason they abandoned this design detail in later models.
I own a Singer 211g156. It is a compound feed walking foot machine. I use it to sew in zippers, or to sew small upholstery projects, or to sew lined belts. It handles thread sizes 69, 92 and 138, using needle sizes 18, 20 and 23. Things to know about this machine are that it only takes a G size bobbin (1x), and the pulley is rather small.
Put some oil in the bushings there's an upper & lower one where the bar runs through. Then push or tap on the foot & it should go down.Don't loosen the circled screw. No luck, the walking foot isn’t budging at all, whenever I firmly press the pedal those 2 components move slightly. Quote.
The walking foot mechanism preferred by leather sewers is triple feed, with the feed dog, needle and inside foot moving in sync as the outer presser foot lifts and lowers. The feet are usually smooth. I call this compound feed. The Singer 111w155 is one of the most sought after used compound feed machines.
Hi all many thanks for taking the time to assist. Today I removed the foot and changed the stitch length screw, and lowered it then removed a straight spring bar from a seized 29k I bought with this one and then took photos and the one thing is that when no pressure is on the spring bar it is more likely to go through the motions correctly ie walking foot kicks back as soon as pressure is ...
I have a walking foot Singer 111W55. The latch that you push down after you stick bobbin into bobbin case is stuck in a straight up position. I tried oiling and putting pressure on it to release but having no luck. Any help appreciated. Thank you. Nancy.
