An extended periodic table theorizes about chemical elements beyond those currently known and proven. The element with the highest atomic number known is oganesson (Z = 118), which completes the seventh period (row) in the periodic table. All elements in the eighth period and beyond thus remain purely hypothetical.
Based on my reading of the discussion, there is consensus to use the Sc-Y-La-Ac periodic table as a default. Both periodic tables should be presented when the controversy in group 3 is relevant, but it need not be mentioned otherwise. For example, there is no need to link an alternative periodic table in the article about chlorine.
