The Frank Spencer Holiday Classic is a basketball tournament held in Winston-Salem, North Carolina in late December. [1] The tournament is named after Frank Spencer, former sports editor for the Winston-Salem Journal, and is a significant fundraiser for the high schools of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.
In 1969, the trustees voted to admit males. Believing that it would be difficult to attract male students to “The Kathleen Laycock Country Day”, the school was renamed to Greens Farms Academy [2] and in September 1970, 23 young men joined 300 young women at the school.
