Gaylord, Michigan. Gaylord (/ ˈɡeɪlərd / GAY-lərd) is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is the county seat of Otsego County, and is the only city within the county. [6] Gaylord had a population of 4,286 at the 2020 census, an increase from 3,645 at the 2010 census. [7]
History. The Gaylord Herald Times was founded in 1875. The paper started publishing twice weekly in May 1999. In 2006, it was purchased by Schurz Communications purchased the paper along with its sister publications, the Petoskey News-Review and the Charlevoix Courier in 2006. [2] It was sold again to GateHouse Media in 2019.

St. Mary’s Cathedral is an octagon-shaped structure built in the Modern architectural style. A statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary outside the south entrance was created by Jim Hopfensperger of Midland, Michigan. It is cast in bronze and was added to the grounds in 1991. [3] A gathering space provides the entryway into the building.
