    2. snafuman (Civil/Environmental) 16 May 01 19:37. We build a lot of boat ramps as I work for a State Park agency. The ideal grade range we like is 10% to 15%. If the ramp is too flat the rear axle of the towing vehicle can end up in the water, which is undesireable (if you have ever spent $1000 to fix a rear end, like me, you understand why).

If you have a really weak spot, the typical slab-on-grade design methodologies won't apply. Simba13 - Slope of a boat ramp will alter the loader's weight distribution to the tires compared to loader manufacturer's specs. This will be especially true with a load in the bucket. Check to see if this factor is significant.

  4. GFRC is a different animal--used for cladding on buildings. You should refer to what you are doing as fiber reinforced concrete--the fibers are not glass, but are polypropylene. 5. Required Concrete Exposure for Boat Ramp - Eng-Tips

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the required concrete properties for a slab on ground boat ramp. The ramp is going to be half submerged and in an area where yearly ice is possible. The way I read Table 19.3.1.1 and 19.3.2.1 in ACI 318-14, since the ramp will be exposed to freezing and thawing cycles and frequent exposure to water ...

I have a boat ramp that extends underwater. The last section, 2' under the waterline, is broken up and needs to be replaced. Anyone have any experience pouring concrete under 2' of water? (The area in need of repair is about 2' x 3') Is this possible, and if so, any tips (mix additives, process, etc.) you could relay would be great!! Thanks...

The steeper the ramp, the sooner the top of the semi-trailer will hit the head of the door. So, though you don't plan to use a dock leveler, you should use dock bumpers. Also, since you are in an area of cold winters, a dock seal is a good thing too. You should also check the OSHA regulations regarding truck dock design.
