The high schools which previously served the Pickerington community were Pickerington High School (1940 - 2003) and Violet Township High School (1906 - 1939). Before 1906, there were many schools in the Pickerington/Violet Township area. The Pickerington School (c.1883), a two-story, two-room school was built to replace the original building.
It is one of two high schools in the Pickerington Local School District. The mascot is the Panther. In 2003, "Pickerington High School" split into two high schools, Pickerington High School Central and Pickerington High School North. Pickerington High School North opened on August 24, 2003.

It serves most of the city of Pickerington, Ohio , as well as part of the city of Columbus , Reynoldsburg , Canal Winchester and unincorporated parts of Fairfield and Franklin Counties .
