The 2023 Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council election took place on 4 May 2023 to elect all 56 members of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, a unitary authority which straddles the ceremonial counties of County Durham and North Yorkshire in England. Stockton-on-Tees is a market town in County Durham, England, with a population of 84,815 at the 2021 UK census. [1] It gives its name to and is the largest settlement in the wider Borough of Stockton-on-Tees. It is part of Teesside and the Tees Valley, on the northern bank of the River Tees.

[5] Its main settlement and namesake of the borough is Stockton-on-Tees, which lies on the north bank of the River Tees, along with the towns of Billingham and Norton-on-Tees, in County Durham.
Under the Local Government Act 1972 a new non-metropolitan district called Stockton-on-Tees was established, with a larger territory than the pre-1968 borough.
