The Outlaws were an English instrumental band that recorded in the early 1960s. [1] One-time members included Chas Hodges (1943–2018), Bobby Graham (1940–2009), Ritchie Blackmore (born 1945), Mick Underwood (1945-2024), Reg Hawkins (born 1942), Billy Kuy (born 1940), Don Groom (born 1939), Roger Mingaye (born 1942), Ken Lundgren and Harvey Hinsley (born 1948).

The UK Singles Chart is a record chart compiled on behalf of the British record industry. Since 1997, the chart has been compiled by the Official Charts Company (formerly The Official UK Charts Company and the Chart Information Network) and until 2005 (when digital downloads were included in the chart compilation), the chart was based entirely on sales of physical singles from retail outlets.
The Shadows were also becoming a popular band in their own right and in 1960, "Apache", an instrumental by Jerry Lordan, topped the UK charts for five weeks. Further hits followed, including the number ones " Kon Tiki " and " Wonderful Land ", another Lordan composition with orchestral backing and even for eight weeks at number 1.
