Denton is a village and civil parish in the South Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The population of the civil parish was 273 at the 2011 census. [ 1 ] It is situated approximately 3 miles (5 km) both south-west of Grantham and west from the A1 road .

The Welby Baronetcy, of Denton Manor in the County of Lincoln, is a title in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 27 June 1801 for William Welby, Member of Parliament for Grantham from 1802 to 1806. The second and third Baronets also represented this constituency in the House of Commons.
The chapelry of Denton was established in 1531 with the construction of the chapel of ease, then Roman Catholic in the Diocese of Lichfield and dedicated to St James. [1] [2] The church was rededicated to St Lawrence in 1839 and became a parish church in 1854. [2] In 1872, the church was expanded and remodelled by J Medland Taylor and Henry Taylor.
