Midtown (formerly Midtown Plaza) is a shopping mall in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, located in the Central Business District neighbourhood. The main anchor store is Hudson's Bay and the shopping centre has a total store count of 154 stores. [1]
Opened on April 25, 1977, [1] Wildwood Mall (now Centre East) was only the second proper enclosed mall on the east side of Saskatoon. Its original anchor tenants were Woolco, a discount department store, and Dominion, a grocery store. The closure of Dominion in the 1980s resulted in a series of unsuccessful renovation attempts.
Future plans for the mall at the time were for a second department store to join Zellers in a future phase, [1] but ultimately Zellers (later Target) remained the only department store in the mall. The mall underwent a major expansion in 1990 that nearly doubled its footprint, though in lieu of a new anchor tenant, a new food court was built.
