Luni is a comune (municipality) in the province of La Spezia, in the easternmost end of the Liguria region of northern Italy. It was founded by the Romans as Luna . It gives its name to Lunigiana , a region spanning eastern Liguria and northern Tuscany ( province of Massa-Carrara ).
The Luni is the largest river in the Thar Desert in Northwest India. [1] It originates in the Pushkar valley of the Aravalli Range, near Ajmer, passes through the southeastern portion of the Thar Desert, and ends in the marshy lands of Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, after travelling a distance of 495 km (308 mi).

The Lunigiana (pronounced [luniˈdʒaːna]) or Lunesana is a historical territory of Italy that today falls within the provinces of Massa Carrara, Tuscany, and La Spezia, Liguria. Its borders derive from the ancient Roman settlement, later the medieval diocese of Luni, which no longer exists.
The river flows for 48 kilometres (30 mi) before joining the Luni River in the Pali district of Rajasthan. Its drainage basin covers an area of 2,200 square kilometres (850 sq mi); the depth of the river is 5 metres (16 ft). The water quality of the Raipur Luni River is eutrophic, meaning that it is nutrient-rich.
Flowing in a north-east to south-west direction, it gathers water from multiple smaller streams along its path, ultimately converging with the Luni River near Khejalda Khurd in Jodhpur district.
