Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport (IATA: FLL, ICAO: KFLL, FAA LID: FLL) – also known as Fort Lauderdale Airport and historically as Merle Fogg Field and Broward County International Airport – is a major public airport located in Broward County, Florida, United States, roughly 3 miles (4.8 km) southwest of downtown Fort Lauderdale and 21 miles (34 km) north of Miami.
The airport also operates a 24/7 ARFF facility that meets the requirements of index B, although the airport is not certificated under FAR Part 139. ARFF services are provided by Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue. The airport is home to two rare Florida native species of animal, the gopher tortoise and the Florida burrowing owl.
The Vero Beach airport ranks No. 16 and the Fort Pierce airport would rank No. 6 if it begins commercial air service in the coming months.
