In the Season 7 episode, "End of the Road", after helping the team stop a group of criminals, Street resigns from 20-Squad and LAPD to join Long Beach's SWAT team, becoming its new commanding officer after its previous leader died from injuries sustained in a gunfight. It is also revealed that Street is engaged to Chris. His call sign is 26-David.
As the case hits close to home for Chris, it also reunite Hicks with his estranged son, JP, a former drug-addict turned gay-rights activist. A gang of men plan to attack the parade, but as SWAT and police hinder two of the trucks, the third heads towards the volunteer stands. Deacon manages to ease the damage as his car is hit by the truck.
Meanwhile, Deacon's wife Annie has a stroke while visiting Hicks and is rushed into emergency surgery. The team learns Gunnar Cade, the Neo-Nazi faction's leader, orchestrated the prison riot as a distraction in order to kill an informant.
But Deacon, having made up his mind, says “S.W.A.T. has been the priority in my life for a long time. It’s time to make a change.” It’s time to make a change.”
It’s not surprising that the S.W.A.T. set is a happy one.The show has been saved from cancelation twice, and if this season’s number holds up, there may even be a Season 9 pickup.
