Zhané (/ ʒ ɑː ˈ n eɪ / zhah-NAY) was an American R&B [1] duo, best known for their 1993 hit "Hey Mr. D.J.", which reached No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. [2] Other popular hits include "Groove Thang" (U.S. No. 17) and minor hit "Sending My Love", both released in 1994. The group was part of Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit collective.
This song received significant radio airplay when it was released, notably in United States and Canada, which is a rare feat for a dance mash-up. The song peaked at 31 on the Billboard hot 100 and was certified gold by the RIAA on October 22, 1997 for sales of 500,000 copies.
An animated video released on the same day as the song shows an animated version of Deadpool performing popular dance crazes including twerking, BlocBoy JB's "shoot" dance and flossing in front of a blue-gray backdrop.
