In a 2010 review Steve Henkel wrote, "here is a masthead sloop with a hull almost as wide (9 1/2 feet) and as heavy as a typical Cape God Catboat. She was the first fiberglass cruising sailboat built by Ted Hermann, at his Seaford Harbor, Long Island Boat Shop, way back at the beginning of the fiberglass era.
The Long Island Maritime Museum is the current home of Priscilla and Modesty, two vessels which are National Historic Landmarks. Other vessels include "Pauline," [2] "Kid," [3] and "Lorelei." [4] The Long Island Maritime Museum acquired Priscilla in 1976. The vessel was significantly altered throughout her extensive career.
In 1914 an engine was installed and the Christeen was used as a cargo vessel transporting potatoes between Long Island and New London, and furniture and other goods between New York City and the eastern end of Long Island. From 1958 to 1976 she was a pleasure yacht and finally in 1989 was abandoned and nearly sunk in New London, Connecticut.
The Force 5 is a small one-design racing sailboat that is similar to the more well known Laser but with a hard chine aft. Although it is designed for single-handed racing, two people can easily fit into the large cockpit. The boats are products of Weeks Yacht Yard on Long Island, New York. [1]
Priscilla is a classic oyster dredging sloop and museum ship at the Long Island Maritime Museum. The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk (formerly Maritime Center) is an aquarium located in the South Norwalk (or "SoNo") section of Norwalk, Connecticut.. The aquarium features harbor seals, river otters, sharks, jellyfish, loggerhead turtles, and hundreds of other animals living in re-creations of their natural Long Island Sound habitats.
